“Without music, life would be a mistake”

As German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche said, “Without music, life would be a mistake.”

That’s why we were thrilled when the Czech Ministry of Health asked us to play a key role at the Prague Spring International Music Festival this year – a showcase for the most outstanding artists, symphony orchestras and chamber music ensembles of the world.

We had the honour of testing all the artists and spectators, ensuring the event could go ahead – and safely.

“Due to the pandemic, the number of spectators was limited to 350 but we also tested performers, drivers, production staff and many others. It was a joy to play our part in the return of cultural events in our country,” says Kamil Doležel, Unilabs Czechia CEO.

The Unilabs team did an incredible job, delivering the results on time for the celebration of the 76th edition of this iconic festival. In addition to testing the people participating in the two opening concerts, the team in Czechia also tested the audience and performers for two more concerts and the musicians of 19 additional concerts which were broadcast online.

“This is one of the most complicated individual events we have ever participated in. The planning demands, the collection points needed, the speed and the flawless data pairing of the results with the barcode in the ticket made it a real challenge – but there is nothing that this team cannot do,” says Ondrej Fischl, Unilabs Area Manager.

Just like the musicians, the different teams of Unilabs Czechia worked like a perfectly-tuned orchestra to bring back the melodies to the Municipal House Smetana Hall.

This event was a pilot by the Czech Ministry of Culture and will be used as an example on how to organise future events.

And this was just one of the many milestones in the fight against Covid-19 that Unilabs Czechia achieved in May. They also contributed to the children’s return to class after seven months of enforced home-schooling.

Little by little, Czechia is coming back to life.
